What I do
Hometown History Works - Memories Made Manifest delivers a variety of local history products. We specialize in architectural art, historical research, walking tours, presentations, Ireland, and Irish America.
You like your town, and there are certain buildings that have special meaning to you - some of which you are yet to discover. They are the places of personal and family events, and places where you meet your friends. I draw them, research their histories, and create informative note cards and wall pieces.
Bold color is fun. Sharing a piece of your place connects you more deeply with your loved ones, friends, and acquaintances.
Our Story
My Story
I grew up in a military family that changed residence (dramatically) every three years. Texas was not the same place as Rhineland-Westphalia, which was not the same as Florida or Maine. It wasn't just that the climates were very different; the cultures were radically different, too. And so was the history and architecture. My family and I thoroughly explored the places where we lived and visited, but Auburn, Maine was home. By learning to appreciate architecture (one building at a time!), I found a new avenue into the history of that place I call home, and enriched my soul. John Henderson- Owner
John Henderson has an MS in Logistics Management from Maine Maritime Academy and BAs in German Studies and Political Science from the University of Southern Maine. He completed a drafting course in high school, and began drawing historic structures many years later after a particularly stimulating presentation on historic building styles. John is a natural educator, with experience in middle school, high school, and post secondary education. He is certified to teach secondary social studies.
